New Sound Idea
I've always thought something was missing when entering large a town in Guild Wars, and finally put my finger on it. Chatter! Doesn't Lion's Arch feel a little empty even when it's full of people? What I would like to see added to the game is a chatter sound. This would sound like a soft muttering of people in the background, almost like the background sound of a mall. It wouldn't be loud enough to hear what those chattering are saying, but just so that one can get the general consensus. A marketplace should sound like a marketplace :P
Just another useless suggestion that will make things fun

Sounds of clay pots, coins being counted etc. I like the idea as long as is isn't going to be the repetitive mumbling we had in factions, the loop has to be diverse and long.
(when I wake up at night I still hear those Keineng basterds mumble creepy things)

Not interested. It'll get annoying rather quickly.

You'll never guess what. It's there already.
If you turn of your music and put on headphones (or just turn your speakera up loud) then you can hear it quite easily.
I just checked in Keineng Center

I think that only happens in Kaineng City in Factions. I've never heard it anywhere else, and I always play the game with headphones. I've not tried turning the music down, so maybe it's just very quiet in other areas, but since I can hear it clearly while playing Factions, it probably isn't there anywhere else.
Anyway, I think it could be a good idea if it was done well. I'm remembering the background noises in Baldur's Gate II, particularly the docks at night, which made the area just come alive.
On the other hand, it might be a bit weird to have sounds playing constantly anywhere other than Kaineng City. You can hear the background noise there because it's a huge city that takes up half the continent, but in a place like Lion's Arch, which is surrounded by jungle, it's perfectly reasonable to not hear any people around (at least some of the time. It certainly wouldn't make sense to hear people during one of the quiet times).
So yeah, if it was done well (such as add a cycle which reflects the peak times in the cities) it'd be a great addition to the game. However, I think if it was just a constant chatter, it would detract from the game. Also, it'd be incredibly creepy to be wandering around a town in the jungle and hear people talking that you cannot see.

But most of the background noise is great. You can't honestly expect anyone to constantly change the volume of their background noise whenever they enter a town. Personally, I probably wouldn't mind some chatter in the background (although as I said in my previous post, could be a bit creepy sometimes), but I'd understand the frustration for someone who doesn't want this noisy chatter.

They should hire a group of voice actors to do the background sounds for LA. Put all of them to shout "WANT TO SELL!" over each other to get that authentic Lion's Arch atmosphere.

That made me lol. Anyhoo, I just tried the game Rappelz and it has this in it surprisingly. It sounds really awesome actually. It's not loud enough to both you, but still hearable in the background of the music. It'sounds really cool :P
